”Coastlines”

Soloexhibition at the MABD Gallery in Oulu, Finland, 2-27 april 2025.

In the exhibition COASTLINES, the artist Annelie Wallin takes us into her world of lines, pixels and light. You will see drawings made by pencil in all varieties of grays, the motifs have grown randomly on the paper itself and sometimes resemble organisms moving in water. Aquarelles that just capture the light in a floating body, temporary and fragile.

Drawings in chalk that take their inspiration from computer printing and maps, methodically built up from lines that together form a kind of structure. Up close you see pixels and dust, from afar you see coastlines and wave surge.

Extended visit is the title of a drawing in pencil and charcoal that describes an encounter between a fixed, lined structure and a floating one. As the title suggests, it is a visitor that we see spreading out among the lines and the question arises; is it visiting or has it already settled down and shifted the basis?
